The oil is made from 100% Koroneiki olives and has a fresh, fruity and full flavour. In order to preserve its taste, it is best used cold and added to a dish at the last moment. Great with salads, honey, pastas, lamb, preparing marinades or Bruschetta, Pesto’s and Dippers, available from Oil & Vinegar. The oil combines well with Strawberry Vinegar and Muscat White Wine Vinegar. Dressing tip: 1/3 strawberry vinegar – 2/3 Sitía olive oil.

The olives are harvested by hand from November to January and processed into oil within hours using the ‘’cold-pressing method’’. This traditional process produces a high-quality olive oil with a low acidity and optimally preserves its taste.

An excellent climate, 200 years of craftsmanship, and the exceptional quality of this olive oil have already won this oil the DLG Gold award in Germany in 2009, 2010 and 2011. It is also certified as PDO organic ‘’Sitía-Lasithiou-Crete’’.

Sitía is seen as the home of olive oil and has been a protected area of origin for several years. This means that only the oil produced in Sitía can be sold as olive oil coming from Sitía. One of the many myths here is that the marital bed of Odysseus stood on the stump of an olive tree. In this way, he hoped that his marriage would be as durable as an olive tree.
