A secret Sicilian recipe. Classic pesto is made with pine nuts, but this Pesto Gustoso is full of other nutty varieties including almonds and cashew nuts. This makes the flavour milder and smoother in texture. As this pesto is made with so many sundried tomatoes, it even tastes a little sweet.

The main ingredients in this pot of pesto are sundried tomatoes, cashew nuts, cheese, basil, and almonds.

History: In the past, sailors saw all kinds of things pass by in the ports of Sicily. But mainly a lot of Pesto alla Genovese, because that pesto comes from Genoa. Rumour has it, the sailors were inspired by the pesto and invented a Sicilian variant. So there you have it, a pesto with regional products from the Italian island. Full of sundried tomatoes, cheese and almonds.

Serving suggestions: 

-In spaghetti with a few drops of extra virgin olive oil and fresh basil
- Very tasteful on a fresh piece of toast
- As a filling for ravioli
